PASTEE 1802 - Hikkaduwa & South Coast

The Pastee 1802 sits just a stone's throw from the shore, a surprisingly accessible wreck that we always suggest for those looking for something a bit different. This old barge, grounded way back in '77, is barely two metres deep, making it an ideal spot for snorkelers or very shallow divers. We love poking around the rusted hull, which has become a giant apartment block for parrotfish and angelfish. You'll often find schools of rabbitfish grazing on the algae, completely oblivious to your presence. The shallow depth means you get fantastic light penetration, painting the wreck in hues of blue and green. It's a relaxed, easy dive, perfect for warming up or winding down a day, and our favourite for observing those smaller, often overlooked reef residents up close. Just be mindful of the occasional surge, especially if the tide is high.
