Why dive here
With 254+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, dolphins, sea turtles, sperm whales and spinner dolphins - SAIGANG offers some of Trincomalee & East Coast's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 27-30°C, warmest April, May, October.
The Saigang wreck sits upright at 15 metres, a cargo ship sunk by a cyclone in 1971. Its stern is particularly intact, offering swim-throughs into the engine room for those with the right training. Schools of snapper and fusiliers shelter within the holds, while batfish often mill around the mast. Currents can be tricky here, making it best suited for experienced divers comfortable with wreck penetration.
