SOUTHERN PIONEER II - Dar es Salaam & Offshore Islands
The *Southern Pioneer II* offers a different kind of dive off Dar, a tanker sunk in 1976 that now sits upright in 15 meters. It’s not a huge wreck at 57 meters, but the superstructure is still largely intact, making for some interesting swim-throughs if you're comfortable with overhead environments. We've seen some decent schools of snapper and fusiliers congregating around the bow, and a few good-sized groupers often patrol the holds. Visibility can be a bit variable here, but on a good day, it’s a solid dive for those who enjoy exploring a piece of maritime history and the life that now calls it home.
