Why dive here
With 165+ marine species recorded in the area - including humpback whales, sea turtles, sperm whales and whale sharks - Nyororo Reef offers some of Mafia Island's richest reef diving. Water ranges 26-29°C, warmest February, March, April.
Nyororo Reef delivers a solid drift dive along its sloping coral profile. We usually see green turtles here, munching on the corals, alongside schools of snapper and barracuda moving in the gentle current. It’s a good spot for newer divers looking to practice drift techniques without being overwhelmed. We find visibility is generally decent, around 15-20 meters.
