Junker 88 - Vlora
The Junker 88 off Vlora sits at a respectable 34 metres, making it a good intermediate dive. It’s an evocative site. Dropping down, the first thing that hits you is the sheer size of the thing, especially those distinctive inverted gull wings. We love how intact it still feels. You can clearly make out the cockpit area and sections of the fuselage, a real testament to its build. This isn't just a pile of metal; it’s a tangible piece of history under the sea. Schools of damselfish often shimmer around the structure, darting in and out of the crevices. Look closely and you’ll find scorpionfish camouflaged on the darker sections of the wreck. The visibility here can be excellent on a good day, giving you plenty of time to explore the contours. Our favourite part is lingering near the tail section, imagining its final moments. It’s a quiet, reflective dive, perfect for those who appreciate wrecks with a story rather than just a structure. Just keep an eye on your bottom time.
