PUGLIOLA (POSSIBLY) - Vlora
The Pugliola, a WWI-era steamship, sits remarkably shallow, just 7 metres down off Vlora. We love that it’s accessible to almost anyone, making it a brilliant introduction to wreck diving. Dropping onto her, you’ll quickly see the sheer scale of the 76-metre hull. She broke in two when she hit that mine in ‘43, and the bow and stern sections are still distinct, though heavily collapsed. Visibility here can be a bit variable, especially after a good rain, but on a calm day, the sunlight penetrates right to the seabed, illuminating the ghostly remains. We particularly enjoy poking around the exposed ribs and plating, where small groupers lurk and schools of damselfish flit in and out. There's a tangible sense of history here, a real connection to the past, and we’d suggest going early to have her mostly to yourselves. It’s not a deep dive, but it’s a memorable one.
