OceanDoc-Divers Austria - Istria Peninsula
The team at OceanDoc-Divers Austria, tucked away on the Istria Peninsula, really know their stuff. They're a PADI 5 Star IDC Resort, which means if you're thinking of going pro, or just want seriously thorough training, this is a solid choice. We love their commitment to turning out excellent divers, from open water beginners to aspiring instructors. Our favourite thing about diving with them? They really dive *into* the local sites. Forget crowded tourist traps; they often take you to quieter spots where you can actually hear the crackle of snapping shrimp. We’ve found ourselves drifting past ancient amphora scattered on the seabed, the light filtering through the water making them shimmer. Keep an eye out for the resident moray eels that peer out from rocky crevices. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a shy John Dory. We’d suggest going in early summer, before the peak season crowds, when the visibility is generally excellent and the water is warming up nicely. Plus, they’re refreshingly honest about conditions, which we always appreciate.
