Elefäntli - Istria Peninsula

Reef Patches is one of those easy-going drifts we always come back to. We love the relaxed pace here, it’s a perfect warm-up for a trip or a lazy afternoon dive after a big morning. The site itself is a series of coral bommies and gently sloping reef, with plenty of soft corals swaying in the light surge. You’ll see plenty of the usual reef suspects here, but what always gets us is the sheer number of parrotfish. Bicolour, Bridled, Reefcrest – they’re everywhere, munching away and leaving little puffs of sand behind them. We’ve had some cracking encounters with blacktip reef sharks here too, cruising through the shallows, barely bothered by our presence. Look for the burrowing urchins tucked into the reef; they’re surprisingly shy. If you’re lucky, you might spot a sunburst butterflyfish, they’re a real treat. Visibility is usually good, making it a great spot for photographers looking for an easier shoot. It’s an accessible dive, well-suited for newer divers or anyone wanting a chill dive with consistent marine life.
