Gorgonien - Istria Peninsula
Gorgonien, off the Istrian coast, isn't about huge pelagics or dramatic drop-offs. It's a quieter site, more about the intricate details. You'll find yourself drifting past stands of Slender Seagrass, spotting Damsel fish flitting in and out, and the surprising pops of colour from Beadlet anemones and the occasional Sunset cup coral. Keep an eye out for Red snapping shrimp tucked into crevices. This is a dive for those who enjoy slowing down, perhaps with a macro lens, and appreciating the smaller, often overlooked residents of the Mediterranean. If you’re into identifying every calcareous green alga or the delicate fronds of a European fan-worm, you’ll be quite happy here.
