Hafen Männedorf - Istria Peninsula

Qawra North. Now this site, we think, is really something special, particularly if you’ve got a good guide who knows where to look. It’s not about dramatic drop-offs or swim-throughs here. Instead, it’s a masterclass in patient observation, a slow dive where the real magic happens when you pause. We love the surprising density of life on what, at first glance, might seem like a fairly unremarkable Mediterranean seabed. Keep your eyes peeled for the Bushy Coral and Scarlet Coral – they add splashes of colour that really pop against the rocky substrate. Our favourite find is usually the Sunset cup coral, glowing orange in the beam of a torch, tucked into crevices. You'll often spot ornate wrasse darting around, and if you're lucky, a common smoothhound might cruise past, utterly unbothered. This site really shines in the late afternoon, as the light softens and a different cast of critters starts to emerge. It’s a photographer’s dream if you’re into macro, and a wonderfully relaxing dive for those who appreciate the smaller details.
