HMS Coriolanus (Wreck) - Istria Peninsula

The HMS Coriolanus, a British naval trawler sunk by a mine in 1945, is one of our favourite wreck dives off the Istrian coast. Resting upright at 27 metres, she’s largely intact and offers a real sense of her history. We love dropping down onto the bow, seeing the deck gun still in position, swarming with schools of damselfish. You can peer into the holds, where the light plays through the gaps, illuminating the resident conger eels. It’s an intermediate dive, perfect for those comfortable with deeper wrecks but not yet ready for extensive penetration. The main draw here is the structure itself and the way marine life, particularly nudibranchs and small scorpionfish, has colonised every surface. We’d suggest going in the morning; the visibility tends to be better before the afternoon boat traffic stirs things up.
