Holzsegelschiff mit Geschützen - Istria Peninsula

This wooden sailing ship with cannons, somewhere off Istria, feels like diving into a forgotten chapter. We don’t have exact coordinates, and that’s part of its charm – it feels like you're discovering it yourself. The wreck itself is a scatter of timbers, but the real star here are those cannons, still proud and encrusted. They’re a fantastic photo opportunity, looming out of the blue. You’ll spot Sunset Cup Corals blooming in vivid oranges and reds all over the metalwork, a stark contrast to the old wood. Around the timbers, damsel fish flit in nervous clouds, and if you’re patient, a conger eel might just peek from a shadowy crevice. We’ve even seen small Cape Sharks cruising the perimeter here, just before dusk. This site is a great pick for divers who appreciate the historical feel of a wreck that’s been truly reclaimed by the sea. It’s not about penetration; it’s about slow exploration and soaking in the atmosphere.
