IMPERIO (OR C320) - Istria Peninsula

The Imperio, or C320, is one of our favourite shallow wrecks in Istria, a real playground for anyone who appreciates a bit of history underwater. It’s sitting upright in just 11 metres, so you get incredible light penetration, even on an overcast day. You can pretty much cover the whole wreck in one dive without feeling rushed. We love poking around the bow, where the anchor chain still drapes off, and then finning back along the main deck. The whole wreck is draped in a thick carpet of sponges and hydroids, a genuinely impressive sight. Look closely and you’ll spot blennies eyeing you from every crevice and nudibranchs grazing on the encrusting life. It’s an easy dive, perfect for photographers wanting to capture those moody wreck shots, or just for enjoying a relaxed explore. We’d suggest going early to avoid any boat traffic, especially in summer. The currents here are usually negligible, making it a very comfortable dive for all experience levels.
