Kec Wreck - Istria Peninsula

The Kec Wreck isn't about grand historical significance, it's about pure, unadulterated wreck diving fun. Sitting upright at a comfortable 23 meters, this small cargo ship is one of our favourites for a relaxed exploration. We love how light filters through the holds on a sunny day, creating these moody shafts of light, almost beckoning you inside. You'll find the deck largely intact, offering easy penetration into the cargo holds. Keep an eye out for conger eels tucked into the darker corners, and the usual Mediterranean suspects-scorpionfish, various breams, and often a playful school of damselfish darting about the superstructure. The stern is particularly interesting, with the prop still largely in place, usually covered in anemones. We’d suggest going in the morning; the visibility tends to be better before any afternoon chop, and the light play inside the wreck is just perfect then. It’s a great site for intermediate divers looking to practice their buoyancy and enjoy a compact, atmospheric wreck without any tricky currents or depths.
