Landungssteg Obermeilen - Istria Peninsula

We love the Tug 2 Reef for a straightforward reason: it’s consistently interesting without being demanding. The real draw here isn’t the sheer size of the coral, but the density of the small stuff living within it. We’ve spent entire dives just hovering, watching the hooded shrimp scuttle amongst the scarlet coral or spotting tiny sea horses clinging to bits of gorgonian. It’s a fantastic site for macro enthusiasts, or anyone who enjoys a relaxed potter. You’ll often find black gobies peeking out from rocky crevices and the occasional porgy gliding past. We’ve even been lucky enough to spot the rare sand horseshoe worm here a couple of times – a real treat. We’d suggest going in the late morning, after any early boat traffic has passed, when the light really helps illuminate the colours of the reef. The visibility is usually pretty good, making it a comfortable dive for all experience levels, though we do recommend a good dive light to pick out all the hidden critters. It’s not a dramatic drop, but rather a gentle slope inviting exploration.
