Landungssteg Rüschlikon - Istria Peninsula

Pinaúnas is one of those spots we always point people towards when they’re looking for something a bit different around Salvador. It's not about big pelagics or dramatic drop-offs here. What we love about Pinaúnas is the intimacy of the reef. You're diving a series of low-lying coral formations, almost like a submerged maze, with sandy channels weaving through. It's relatively shallow, making it perfect for longer bottom times and really getting to know the smaller residents. We've spent entire dives just watching the Arrow Stargazers buried in the sand, their eyes peeking out, or trying to spot the Fringed Pipefish camouflaged amongst the corals. The Spanish Grunts hang out in big schools, their silver scales flashing, and you’ll often see gangs of Sergeant-majors darting about. Keep an eye out for the Doctorfish and Brazilian Wrasse grazing on the algae. It’s a fantastic site for photographers, especially those who appreciate macro and wide-angle reef shots without strong currents to contend with. The visibility can be a bit variable, so we'd suggest asking your dive shop for a report on the day, but even on average days, the clarity within the reef structure itself is usually decent. Pinaúnas suits divers who like to slow down, explore the nooks, and appreciate the smaller wonders of the reef.
