Lina Wreck - Istria Peninsula

The Lina Wreck off the Istrian coast is one of our favourite dives in Croatia, a proper dive into history. This cargo steamer, sunk in 1914, lies upright and mostly intact on a sandy seabed, making it incredibly atmospheric. As you descend, the sheer size of the Lina becomes apparent, her hull draped in sponges and soft corals that sway gently with the slight current. We especially love the bow, with its anchor chain still visible and a resident school of ornate wrasse flitting in and out of the structure. Penetrating the holds, even just slightly, offers a real sense of being inside a time capsule, though always mind your buoyancy here; silt kicks up easily. This dive suits experienced wreck divers who appreciate the ghostly beauty of a well-preserved vessel and the chance to imagine its past. Keep an eye out for scorpionfish tucked into crevices and small morays peering from pipes.
