Lothenbach - Istria Peninsula

Something to See is exactly what it sounds like. We’ve always had a soft spot for this spot in Eleuthera. Drop in and you’re immediately greeted by the friendly faces of snapper and school bass, darting around the coral heads. We especially love the blackfish here, often hovering curiously as you pass. Keep an eye out for the bright red cushion sea stars, almost glowing against the sand, and if you’re lucky, a Caribbean reef shark might cruise by in the deeper blue. This site truly shines for macro enthusiasts. The reef is riddled with tiny hiding spots for yellow jawfish and smooth-eye blennies. Take your time, really get close, and you’ll find fairy basslets flitting between the corals and maybe even a spaghetti eel poking its head from a crevice. It’s a gentle drift, often with a mild current, making it a relaxed dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to soak it all in. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light really brings out the colours of the reef.
