NETTUNO - Istria Peninsula
Nettuno is one of those easy-access wrecks we often gravitate towards after a longer, deeper dive, or simply when we’re feeling a bit lazy. It's a small fishing boat, sitting upright in just seven metres of water, perfectly preserved and totally intact. There's no major current to worry about, so you can spend a full hour slowly circling the wheelhouse, peering into the open holds, and just soaking it all in. What we love most about Nettuno is how it feels like a living exhibit. Sunlight dapples through the water, illuminating schools of damselfish that dart in and out of the rusted hull. Moray eels poke their heads from crevices, and we’ve spotted plenty of blennies perched on the deck, almost posing for photos. It’s a photographer's dream, especially if you're experimenting with natural light or wide-angle shots. Our favourite time to visit is mid-morning, after any initial boat traffic has cleared, leaving the wreck peacefully to itself. It's an excellent choice for new wreck divers, or anyone who just wants a relaxed, shallow dive with a lot of character.
