Ober Nas - Istria Peninsula

Reef Patches is one of those sites that just feels *right* for Christmas Island. It’s not about dramatic drop-offs or swim-throughs here, it’s about slow, detailed diving. We love drifting over the low-lying coral formations, almost feeling the pulse of the reef. We’ve had some cracking encounters with grouper and wrasse here, just hanging out amongst the coral heads. Keep an eye out for the smaller stuff too, the blennies and gobies are everywhere if you take your time, and we often spot a banded-tail coral-cod tucked away. The schools of banded blue sprat can be surprisingly dense, creating shimmering walls of silver. If you’re a macro enthusiast or someone who enjoys a relaxed exploration rather than a high-speed tour, Reef Patches will definitely appeal. We’d suggest going early in the morning, the light catches the corals beautifully then, and the activity from the smaller fish is always buzzing.
