Schiffli - Istria Peninsula

Recife das Pinaúnas is a real treat, one of our favourite spots near Salvador, especially when you want a break from the deeper wrecks. It’s a shallow, vibrant coral reef, perfect for a long, relaxed dive where you can really slow down and appreciate the details. We’ve spent hours here, just drifting over the hard corals, spotting everything from inquisitive clown wrasse darting between the polyps to the electric flash of yellowtail parrotfish grazing on the reef. The beauty of Pinaúnas is in its accessibility and the sheer density of life in the shallows. You’ll find schools of Brazilian silversides shimmering like quicksilver, and if you’re patient, you might spot a sneaky slantlip eel peeking from a crevice. We always recommend an early morning dive here; the light is just stunning, filtering through the water and illuminating the corals in a way that just begs for a wide-angle lens. Keep an eye out for the delicate sea lettuce swaying gently with the surge. It’s a wonderfully tranquil dive, ideal for photographers or anyone who just wants to soak in the reef’s quiet rhythm without battling strong currents or depth limits.
