With 46+ marine species recorded in the area - including dolphins, sea turtles and cuttlefish - SKIPJACK offers some of Istria Peninsula's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 12-26°C, warmest July, August, September.
The Skipjack lies shallow, a steamship that met its end in 1946 after striking a mine. At just 7 meters, it’s an ideal spot for newer divers, or for those who simply want a relaxed, long bottom time. You’ll find the wreck broken, with bits of the hull and superstructure spread across the seabed, but still very recognisable as a vessel. Shoals of small fish dart through the metal ribs, and we’ve spotted plenty of crabs tucked into the nooks, making it a surprisingly lively wreck despite its age. It's a peaceful dive, often with good visibility, making it a solid choice for a second dive of the day.
