Star Fish - Istria Peninsula

Star Fish is one of those sites we always recommend to newer divers in Istria, or anyone just looking for a relaxed, easy dive with a lot to see. It’s not a dramatic wall or a deep wreck, but it’s consistently rewarding. We’ve spent many hours here, just finning slowly, spotting things. The real draw here, for us, is the sheer density of macro life and the calmer conditions. You’ll find plenty of scorpionfish tucked into crevices and common lobsters peeking out from under rocks. We’ve had some cracking encounters with bottlenose skates gliding over the sandy patches, and if you take your time, you're bound to spot a dogfish or a thornback skate too. Keep an eye out for the delicate sunset cup corals in the overhangs – they really glow under a torch. It’s a gentle slope, mostly rubble and small rocks, transitioning to sand, which suits those extended bottom times. We usually find the currents negligible, making it a great spot for practicing buoyancy or just enjoying a long, unhurried poke around. It's a proper chill-out dive.
