Türlersee - Istria Peninsula
Wall Stone Beach is one of those easy Malta dives that always delivers, especially if you’re into the smaller stuff. We love it for a relaxed second dive or a night dive when the octopuses start to stretch their tentacles. Drop in from the beach and you'll find the main wall, dropping to a reasonable depth, making it accessible for most certifications. The wall itself is a tapestry of Mediterranean life – look closely for the scarlet coral and the bushy coral, glowing a deep orange-red in your torch beam. This is where we often spot the hooded shrimp and the tiny coralline bryozoan, clinging to every surface. Keep an eye on the ledges and crevices; dusky groupers like to hang out here, a bit shy but always impressive. The common octopus is a frequent sight, sometimes even the marbled spinefoot, grazing on algae. We’ve had some truly fantastic encounters here with sea horses, patiently swaying in the seagrass patches just off the wall. Visibility tends to be reliable, though a little surge can kick up sand on windier days. It’s not a drift dive, but a gentle current can sometimes be present, so just be mindful. For an unhurried exploration of Malta's quieter marine residents, Wall Stone Beach is a firm favourite.
