Unterwasserwald - Istria Peninsula

Wagstaffe Bar is one of those dives that reminds us why we love exploring the broken-up bits of the Hawkesbury River mouth. It’s a drift, plain and simple, and we think it’s best approached with an outgoing tide. Drop in and let the current carry you over a mix of sand and rubble, dotted with sponges and the occasional soft coral. This isn't about dramatic walls; it’s about slow, detailed discovery. Keep your eyes peeled for those Widebody Pipefish, blending in like nobody's business, and the odd Marbled Flathead trying to disappear into the seafloor. We've seen Australasian Darters fishing overhead and, on one memorable occasion, a pod of Australian Fur Seals zipping past – a true highlight. It's a relaxed, easy dive, probably best for those who enjoy taking their time and spotting the smaller, more unusual stuff. The current usually does all the work, so you can just glide and look.
