Widmerland - Istria Peninsula

We’ve always had a soft spot for Recife das Pinaúnas. It’s not about dramatic drop-offs or famous wrecks here. This is a subtle beauty, a place where you really need to slow down and look. We particularly love the late afternoon dives when the light hits the coral just right, illuminating the crevices where glassy sweepers gather in shimmering clouds. What makes Pinaúnas a standout for us is the sheer number of those smaller, often overlooked species. You’ll spot the keen eyes of an eyed flounder pressed against the sand, almost perfectly camouflaged. We’ve spent solid chunks of time watching banded blennies dart between the coral branches, performing their little territorial dances. Keep an eye out for bigeye stargazers too, buried up to their chin, just waiting. It’s a photographer’s dream if you’re into macro and don't mind staying still. Expect a relatively easy dive, perfect for just cruising along and letting your eyes do the work.
