Wildsau - Istria Peninsula
Punta Naranjo is one of those spots where you just know you’re in Coiba. We’ve found ourselves drifting past the jagged rock formations here, often with a decent current pushing us along, so be ready for that. Look out into the blue; it’s a good place for pelagics. We’ve seen Smoothtail Mobulas cruise by, silent and wide, along with schools of jacks so thick they shimmer like a liquid wall. Down on the rocks, you’ll find plenty to hold your attention – colourful pufferfish tucked into crevices and morays peeking out, sometimes a Spotted-tail moray if you’re lucky. We often spot Keeltail Needlefish just beneath the surface, slender and quick. The currents can make for a fast dive, but that’s often when the bigger stuff comes out to play. It’s a site that rewards experienced divers who can handle a bit of a push and keep an eye on the open water.
