Wolfsprung - Istria Peninsula

We’re not going to lie, Christmas Island isn’t always the easiest place to dive. But Reef Patches? That’s where you truly understand why you made the journey. This site, a collection of bommies and coral heads rising from a sandy bottom, is a total contrast to the often sheer drop-offs elsewhere. It feels like a secret garden. Our favourite time to drop in is mid-morning, just as the sun really starts to hit those shallow sections, making the corals glow. You’ll find small giant clams tucked into crevices, their mantles a kaleidoscope of blues and greens. Keep your eyes peeled for the Bearded Sabretooth Blenny, a tiny character that makes its home in the sandy patches between the corals – it’s a real treat to spot. Schools of Threadfin and Manini drift lazily, sometimes parting around you like a living curtain. We love watching the Princess Parrotfish busily munching away, leaving their little trails of sand. It’s a calm, shallow dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who wants to slow down and really observe the smaller, often overlooked reef residents.
