Fortunal (Wreck) - Vis & Biševo
The Fortunal is our pick for a Croatian wreck that truly tells a story. We’ve done this dive countless times, and it never gets old. Lying upright at 37 metres, this fishing boat looks like it just dropped anchor for the night. The wheelhouse is still intact, and you can swim through the holds, imagining the day it sank in a storm back in the 1990s. It’s an easy dive, perfect for advanced open water divers who want a proper penetration experience without any drama. Inside, the light filters through the portholes, illuminating schools of tiny glassfish that shimmer as you pass. Outside, the deck is covered in a fuzzy carpet of yellow and orange sponges, and you’ll often find scorpionfish camouflaged perfectly amongst the growth. Look closely under the bow, and you might spot a moray eel peeking out. We love how accessible it is, offering a proper wreck exploration even for those newer to deeper dives. Best to hit it early in the morning before the afternoon currents pick up, which can make navigating the deck a bit more challenging.
