M HARB (PROBABLY) - Paphos & Coral Bay

The M HARB, probably, is one of those sites we always recommend for a relaxed afternoon dip, especially if you’ve got a non-diver waiting nearby. It’s barely a few strokes from shore, an old motor vessel that ran aground in a storm back in '84. What you get is a shallow playground, the remains of the hull spread out in about three metres of water. We love finning over the mangled metal, watching schools of juvenile ornate wrasse dart between the rusted plates. You can peek into what would have been the engine room, now just a shadowy hollow where a few curious parrotfish often hang out. Sunlight penetrates every corner, illuminating the patches of vivid green algae and the occasional nudibranch inching its way across the deck plating. It’s a gentle introduction to wreck diving, perfect for knocking the rust off your skills or for introducing newer divers to the charm of a historical wreck without any depth anxieties. Our favourite time to go is late afternoon, as the sun dips, casting long, wavering shadows across the wreck.
