FURSTIN MARIE

The *Fürstin Marie* isn't a deep dive, sitting in just four metres of water, but it’s one of our favourite wreck explorations in Bornholm. It's an old wooden schooner, scuttled back in 1927, and she’s a beautiful mess of history and marine growth. We love drifting over the hull, spotting the ribs and beams that still hold their shape, even after almost a century on the seabed. Visibility here can be a bit variable, especially after a good blow, but when it's calm, the sunlight pierces right through, illuminating the wreck in a really dramatic way. You’ll find schools of small fish darting in and out of the skeletal remains, and surprisingly large crabs tucked into every crevice. Our tip: go at slack tide if you can. The gentle currents encourage the fish to hang around, letting you get a really close look at the blenny and gobies that call the wreck home. It's a shallow, easy dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who enjoys picking apart the details of a historical wreck without the pressure of depth.
