JOHAN TILLBERG - Bornholm

The *Johan Tillberg* isn't a deep dive, sitting at just 10 metres, but it offers a genuinely compelling wreck experience off Bornholm. This old steamship, sunk way back in 1917, has settled into the seabed and what’s left of her structure is now a fantastic home for local marine life. We love how accessible she is; it’s a perfect wreck for divers comfortable with basic navigation but who aren't looking to push depths or advanced penetration. You'll fin over the collapsed hull, spotting the distinct outline of her boilers and engine room, which are still somewhat intact. Schools of cod often patrol the deck, and we've regularly seen blennies peeking out from every nook and cranny. Keep an eye on the sand nearby too, flatfish blend in remarkably well. Our favourite detail is the way the light filters through the shallower water, giving the whole site a slightly eerie, beautiful glow. It’s not about grand scale, it’s about the intimacy of a century-old wreck reclaimed by the Baltic. We'd suggest going on a calm day for the best visibility, which can vary quite a bit here.
