KATHARINA PEPPA - Bornholm
Bornholm might not scream "wreck diving destination," but the Katharina Peppa proves otherwise. This isn't some pristine, intact vessel; it's a wonderfully broken-up cargo ship, a jumble of metal that feels more like an artificial reef than a tragic wreck. We love how the hull plates lie scattered, creating these little canyons and swim-throughs at a comfortable 18 metres. It’s accessible for most divers, just be mindful of how easily sand can get kicked up inside the structure itself. The Peppa’s real charm lies in its transformation. While we don't have a species list for this particular site, we've found the cracks and crevices here absolutely bursting with life. Crabs scuttle through the corroded beams; small blennies dart in and out of the rusted plating. We’d suggest taking your time, letting your eyes adjust to the subtle movements, because that's when you really start to notice the smaller critters making a home here. This site doesn't offer dramatic history lessons, but it does deliver a fantastic, engaging dive for anyone who appreciates the way nature reclaims man-made objects.
