MARIE DIVER - Bornholm

The Marie Diver wreck off Bornholm is a genuinely eerie dive, and we mean that in the best possible way. This isn't a colourful reef, it's a cold-water shipwreck that pulls you into its story. Dropping down to 26 metres, the fishing vessel sits upright, mostly intact, and it’s a real pleasure to explore her holds and the deck. We love the way the light filters through the green water here, giving everything a muted, almost ghostly glow. You’ll find cod sheltering in the wheelhouse and schools of pollack circling the mast, occasionally darting into the shadows. The stern is our favourite spot, where you can often spot flatfish camouflaged against the sand nearby. It’s a quiet dive, often with surprisingly good visibility for the Baltic, maybe 10-15 metres on a calm day. We’d suggest a drysuit and good thermal protection, even in summer, as the water temperature rarely climbs above 15°C. This site really suits divers who appreciate historical wrecks and the unique atmosphere of cold-water diving, rather than those seeking vibrant coral. It’s a proper dive, full of character.
