MARTHA OF KORNO (PROBABLY) - Bornholm

Alright, the Martha of Korno (Probably) is a quirky one. We love that "probably" in the name, it just adds to the character of this little schooner. She’s not deep, just 12 metres, so you get good light penetration on most days, even off Bornholm. What you'll find here is a classic small timber wreck, sunk by a mine back in 1950. It’s a site that suits divers who appreciate a bit of history and don't need huge pelagics to be happy. The stern is our favourite part, relatively intact with the rudder still there, and the bow section has opened up, giving you some nice swim-throughs if you're comfortable. You’ll see a lot of local flatfish tucked into the sand around the edges, and the wreck itself is covered in dead man's fingers and anemones, with plenty of small cod and blennies darting in and out of the timbers. We’d suggest going on a calm day; visibility can be a bit variable here, but on a good one, the light playing through the masts is quite something. It’s a gentle exploration, a real step back in time.
