PLANETA - Bornholm

Planeta, off the coast of Bornholm, isn't your typical European wreck dive. Forget pristine, intact vessels. This site is a sprawling tapestry of metal, the distributed remains of a cargo ship that met its end decades ago. We love how the wreck has completely merged with the seafloor, creating an artificial reef that feels ancient, almost geological. Dropping down to 13 metres, you're immediately struck by the sheer scale of the debris field. Twisted plates of steel, a massive boiler, and various mechanical parts are scattered across the sandy bottom. It’s less about penetrating cabins and more about exploring the nooks and crannies between the wreckage. Look closely; we’ve often found plump cod sheltering in the shadow of a bulkhead, and sometimes even a curious seal zipping through the gaps. The ambient light at this depth gives the entire scene a muted, reflective quality – it’s quite atmospheric. For divers who enjoy history and a relaxed exploration, rather than a deep, challenging penetration, Planeta is a real winner. Keep an eye on the thermocline, as Bornholm waters can be a bit chilly, even in summer.
