POMERANIA - Bornholm

Pomerania isn't deep, but it’s absolutely worth the trip. We love this wreck because it’s a proper piece of history, stretched out in just three metres of water. You can spend ages exploring the hull of this old steamer, imagining its working life, maybe even finding some of the old wooden decking. The light plays beautifully through the water, illuminating patches of rust and the way the kelp sways with the gentle surge. It’s perfect for a long, relaxed dive, especially if you’re into photography – the ambient light is incredible. The wreck acts like an apartment block for smaller fish. We’ve seen blennies darting into crevices and crabs scuttling over the metal plates. Our favourite detail has to be the way the engine room is still somewhat discernible, even after all these years. It’s a great spot for newer divers looking for a proper wreck experience without the depth or complexity. Go on a calm day, and the visibility is surprisingly good, letting you take in the scale of the whole site.
