Bornholm diving is a bit of a niche, we’ll admit, but Sportsdykkerklub Aquanaut gives you a proper taste of the Baltic Sea’s charms. Forget the vibrant coral gardens you see in magazines, this spot is about the cool, subtle beauty of northern waters. We love dropping in here on a calm day, the light filtering down through the green-blue water, often catching the silvery flash of garfish darting past. It’s a site that rewards patience, perfect for divers who enjoy spotting the less flamboyant residents. You’ll weave through fields of swaying kelp, keeping an eye out for eels tucked into crevices or the odd starry ray settled on the sandy bottom. Our favourite find here is always the sea lamprey – they’re strangely prehistoric looking. The common eiders and gulls often circle overhead, a reminder that you're diving right on the edge of a bustling bird world. Visibility can vary, but when it’s good, the light has a certain ethereal quality to it. This isn't a site for adrenaline junkies, but if you appreciate the quiet hunt for unique temperate species, it’s a solid choice.
