Tårbæk Rev isn't your typical tropical coral reef, so let's get that straight. This is Bornholm, Denmark, a place with its own kind of stark, rugged beauty underwater. We've always found this site captivating for its sheer difference. What you're really coming here for is the experience of a thriving temperate reef. Think kelp forests swaying gently, creating moody shadows on the seabed. We often spot schools of pollock darting through the fronds, and if you’re patient, you might see a spotted dragonet camouflaged against the rocks. Look closely at the substrate and you’ll find common sea stars in various hues and the occasional lumpsucker clinging on. It’s a calmer dive, usually without strong currents, which makes it perfect for longer bottom times, allowing you to really observe the smaller, more subtle residents. Early mornings here can be magical, with the light filtering through the water column. This site is genuinely interesting for anyone keen to see what northern European waters offer beyond shipwrecks.
