ANNE MARIE - North Sea Coast

The *Anne Marie* is pure North Sea character, a yacht that went down in 1981 and has been slowly reclaimed by the sea. We love it because it’s so accessible, sitting at a shallow 14 metres, making it a perfect second dive or a great option for newer wreck enthusiasts. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the way the light filters through the green water, illuminating sections of the hull. The wreck itself is in two main pieces, a bow and stern section, connected by a debris field where you’ll find smaller items scattered about. We always make sure to poke around the wheelhouse, it’s often home to a grumpy crab or a curious blenny peering out. The structure has become an artificial reef, encrusted with anemones and hydroids, and we’ve seen some surprisingly large cod tucked away in the shadows. Visibility can be hit or miss, typical for the North Sea, but on a good day, it’s magical watching schools of pollack swirl around the mast. Our favourite time to dive it is late morning, before any stronger coastal currents really pick up. This site is a proper piece of maritime history, not just a pile of metal.
