Banter See - UWC Heim - North Sea Coast

Palawan’s reefs have a reputation, and for good reason. What we love about this particular site isn't just the sheer number of species, though 131 is nothing to sneeze at. It’s the way the reef unfolds, a vibrant tapestry where every coral head seems to host its own mini-drama. We’re talking about schools of Ternate Chromis that shimmer like spilled glitter, and the comical sight of a Black Spotted Blow Fish trying to look inconspicuous amongst the sponges. Dive in, and you’ll immediately feel the subtle current guiding you along, not too strong, just enough to make you feel like you’re floating effortlessly. Keep an eye out for the Giant Moray peeking from its lair – they always look a bit grumpy, don’t they? And the Half-circled Angelfish, with their striking patterns, are a common, beautiful sight. Our favourite moment here is always spotting a Cleaner Mimic, almost indistinguishable from the Bluestone Kambingan it imitates, a masterclass in camouflage. This site is perfect for divers who appreciate the intricate details of a healthy reef and enjoy lingering to watch behaviour, rather than just ticking off big pelagics. We’d suggest a morning dive, as the light filtering through the water really brings out the colours of the corals and fish.
