BLACK STAR - North Sea Coast

The Black Star wreck is one of our favourites along the North Sea coast. It’s a 12.2-metre pleasure craft, but don't let the "pleasure craft" part fool you into thinking it's just a small boat. This wreck has a real story, sinking after a fire, and you can still feel that history as you descend. It sits upright at 34 metres, offering some fantastic penetration opportunities for those with the right training. We love to explore the wheelhouse and the engine room, picturing the chaos of its final moments. What really makes the Black Star special, though, is how nature has reclaimed it. The entire hull is draped in dead man's fingers, swaying gently in the current, creating this ghostly, ethereal feel. Ling and cod lurk in the shadowed nooks, darting into the gloom as you approach. Keep an eye out for conger eels too, peering from pipes. This is definitely a dive for advanced wreck enthusiasts who appreciate a bit of historical intrigue and don't mind a deeper profile. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, the sight of the intact wreck emerging from the North Sea green is something else.
