CHRISTIAN IX - North Sea Coast

The *Christian IX* is a wreck that really delivers, especially for a North Sea dive. It’s a fishing vessel, not some massive battleship, but that’s precisely its charm. Lying upright in just 10 metres of water, it’s remarkably intact for something that’s been down there a while. We love how accessible it is, making it perfect for newer wreck divers or those wanting a relaxed long bottom time. You'll spend your dive exploring the deck, the wheelhouse, and what’s left of the holds. We’ve found the stern particularly interesting, with sections of the rigging still visible, now draped in soft corals. The structure itself is a magnet for the local critters; we’re talking conger eels peeking from pipes, schools of cod swirling around the superstructure, and crabs scuttling across every surface. Visibility varies, but when it’s good, the light penetrates beautifully, illuminating the wreck in an almost ethereal green glow. Dive it on a slack tide for the easiest conditions, and bring a good torch to peer into the darker corners – you never know what you'll spot. It’s a solid choice for anyone looking to connect with a piece of maritime history, without the deep-water challenge.
