DELPHIN IV - North Sea Coast

The DELPHIN IV, lying at 30 metres off Denmark's North Sea coast, isn't just a dive; it’s a sombre journey into maritime history. This merchant vessel sank in late December 1961, and the North Sea has claimed it as its own. We love it because it’s a proper wreck dive, not some scattered debris field. You drop onto a surprisingly intact hull that’s been thoroughly encrusted by cold-water anemones and mussels, which cling in thick mats. Inside, where the holds once carried cargo, now cod and conger eels lurk in the gloom. Our favourite moment is finning slowly along the deck, imagining the final moments of the crew, while schools of pollock flit just above the railings. Visibility here can swing wildly, so pick a calm day with a high tide for the best chance of decent light penetration. This is a dive for those who appreciate the quiet dignity of a wreck and don't mind the chill, experienced divers mostly. It’s definitely not a beginner's site; the depth and potential for strong currents demand good buoyancy and comfort in low visibility.
