EDITH ALS - North Sea Coast

The Edith Als is a proper North Sea wreck, sitting upright at 24 metres, and it’s one of our favourite dives along this coast. She went down after springing a leak, not from any dramatic wartime action, which lends her a quiet dignity. You drop down onto a dark shape that slowly resolves into a surprisingly intact cargo ship, the mast reaching up to about 18 metres. We love exploring the holds, which are now completely open and often swarming with cod. It’s a bit of a maze down there, but a manageable one, perfect for divers who enjoy poking around rusty relics without feeling overwhelmed. You'll often find conger eels tucked into shadowy corners, and the deck plating is absolutely plastered in anemones, their tentacles swaying gently in the subtle surge. Visibility can be a bit variable, as it often is in the North Sea, but on a good day, when the sun penetrates the green water, the atmosphere is incredible. We’d suggest diving this one on a slack tide to really make the most of the penetration opportunities. It’s a genuinely engaging wreck, not just a pile of debris.
