ELISABETH - North Sea Coast

The ELISABETH wreck off the North Sea Coast is a proper piece of history, resting upright at 24 metres. We love that she's so intact, considering the North Sea's temperament. You drop down onto the wheelhouse, which is still largely there, then you can drift over the cargo holds, where the fish often congregate. It’s a fishing vessel, so you get that classic silhouette, the stern post sticking up, often silhouetted against the ambient light filtering down. We've always found the ELISABETH to be a genuinely atmospheric dive. The current can be a bit frisky here, so pick your day, preferably a neap tide, and aim for an hour either side of slack water. The wreck itself is covered in dead man's fingers and anemones, and we often spot conger eels poking out from the darker recesses. For us, the highlight is exploring the deck, imagining the last moments of this ship, and seeing how nature has completely reclaimed it. This one is definitely for the wreck enthusiasts who appreciate a good story and a bit of a challenge.
