ELLEN BONNERUP - North Sea Coast

The *Ellen Bonnerup* is one of our favourites in the North Sea. Yes, it’s a trawler, sunk in ‘61, but it’s more than just a metal hulk. Dropping onto her, you immediately feel that sense of history, the working life she lived before coming to rest. We love how intact she feels, even with the years underwater. You can really get a sense of her structure, the hold, the stern; it’s not just a pile of twisted metal. Exploring the *Ellen Bonnerup* is a proper dive, one where you’re always finding new angles. The wheelhouse is a highlight, surprisingly well-preserved. Inside, you can imagine the captain at the helm, a real echo of her operational days. And the marine life? Oh, it’s good. Expect to see schools of cod weaving through the superstructure, conger eels peeking out from every dark corner, and the sheer density of plumose anemones coating the metalwork is something else. We'd suggest going on a slack tide day, the visibility tends to be better, and you’ll have an easier time nosing around the finer details of the wreck without fighting a current. It’s a genuinely engaging dive for anyone who appreciates a good wreck with a story.
