ELSE VRIST - North Sea Coast

Else Vrist, resting at 31 metres off Denmark’s North Sea coast, isn’t your typical Caribbean kaleidoscope. We love it precisely because it feels raw, a piece of industrial history claimed by the sea. This old fishing vessel, classified as a ‘dangerous wreck,’ still holds a certain mystery. The hull’s structure is largely intact, with parts listing to one side, creating interesting swim-throughs and dark corners where conger eels lurk. Visibility here can be a bit of a lottery, often averaging 5-10 metres, but when it clears, the sight of the wreck materialising from the green murk is something special. Look for massive schools of cod darting through the superstructure and thick carpets of anemones covering every metal surface. We’d suggest diving this one on a slack tide; the currents here can be powerful, making for a challenging but rewarding dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts. It's a proper adventure, less about colourful corals and more about the stark beauty of a man-made structure slowly returning to nature.
