FALKE III - North Sea Coast

The FALKE III, a trawler resting at 21m off the North Sea coast, isn’t your typical Caribbean kaleidoscope. This is a Danish wreck dive, and we love it for its moody atmosphere and the sheer satisfaction of exploring a proper piece of history. The FALKE III is a broken wreck, with pieces scattered across the seabed, but it still holds its shape enough to feel like a real vessel. You'll find yourself tracing the line of the hull, peering into shadowy holds where crabs scuttle away from your light. What makes the FALKE III special, in our opinion, is the way it’s been absorbed by the North Sea. The metalwork, once so sharp, is now softened by layers of anemones and sponges. Schools of cod hang motionless in the deeper sections, their dark forms almost invisible against the muted light filtering down. We'd suggest going on a calm day, if you can, to make the most of the visibility, which can fluctuate. The currents here can be a bit frisky, adding to the adventurous feel. This site is perfect for those who appreciate the quiet drama of a historical wreck and don't need a rainbow to feel amazed.
