FELICIA - North Sea Coast

FELICIA is one of those wrecks that really tells a story, even if it’s a sombre one. She was a steamship, sunk by a mine in 1944, and while she’s listed as “dangerous,” we’ve always found her approachable for divers who respect wrecks. It’s not about intricate penetration here, though you can peek into some of the cargo holds. Instead, the joy comes from tracing her lines, imagining the scale of her journey from the surface down to the seabed at 16m. We love how much life has colonised the wreck. The metal ribs and plates are covered in plumose anemones, and you’ll often spot massive cod lurking in the shadows, along with wrasse darting between the debris. Visibility can be a bit of a mixed bag in the North Sea, so we always suggest picking a day with calm conditions and planning your dive around slack tide to get the best out of it. It’s a site for divers who appreciate history and the slow reclamation of the ocean, rather than just chasing big pelagics.
